An original Army Issued 'Blueshirt' Tunic, in blue canvas with double pleated pockets, black buttons, and scrimped end, some wear, a rare survivor. (1)
Provenance: Co. Waterford Family by descent.
Note: The 'Blueshirt' uniform was seen as associating the movement with European shirted movements. Because of the ambiguous reputation of the 'Blueshirts' not many of these outfits have been preserved. Under Gen. Eoin O'Duffy's leadership its direction became increasingly erratic. The remnants of the organisation went to Spain with O'Duffy in 1936. * A historical item of enormous interest.
