Medal: G.A.A.: Hurling 1939. A heavy 9ct gold Medal by J.M. (John Miller) in the Celtic cross design, pierced centre, inscribed on reverse, "Craobh Iomana na hEireann Sinnsear 1939, Cill Choinnigh a bhuaidh," the obverse with central harp overlay and "Eire" across centre, hallmarked. Scarce. (1)
* On the 3rd of September 1939, just four hours after World War 2 was declared, both Jack Lynch (Cork) and Jimmy Walsh (K.K.) took to battle in a different sense, with the Cats winning 2.7 to 3.3, claiming their 12th title.
