An early carved wooden triptych Altarpiece, depicting the stable at Bethlehem, with the Infant Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the star of Bethlehem, and the heads of a cow and a donkey, together with the shepherds and the three kings or wise men, all carved in narwhal ivory, together ten figures, approx. 11.5cms (4 ½”) high, overall size 28cms (11”) high, 49cms (19¼”) long (opened). Possibly Medieval. One figure coming loose - no major damage to the structure. Some natural wear to base to structure. Some minor repairs - i.e. figures have been re-applied over the years. Otherwise in very presentable condition. Worming to back panel - nothing major. See images.
