Signed by Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte. Letter from Napoleon I, written at Brusselles on 24 July 1803, when he was making one of his personal visits to the coasts of the Low Countries to press on the fitting out of a fleet for the invasion of England, which was at this time occupying his attention.
The Letter is dictated to a clerk; the signature ought to read 'Bonaparte' but Napoleon's writing is notoriously obscure.
It bids the Minister of War (General Berthier) issue a month's pay to four 'demi-brigades' and two regiments, to indemnify them for their expenses in moving.
As a m/ss., framed and glazed. (1)
