The Great Famine:  A mid-19th Century 'Famine Pot' in original condition, approx. 69cms (27") diameter, possibly by Darby of Coalbrooke. (1)

* In 1846 the Quakers provided 294 'Coire' or big Cauldrons, which sole purpose was to feed the starving population in Ireland in the packed workhouses. The Quakers were responsible and played a pivotal role in mobilising relief aid to the Country.
