A very rare George III Needlework Sampler, by Elizabeth Bushell 1765. Elizabeth Bushell, afterwards Gaisford, mother of Thomas Gaisford Dean of Christ Church, worked with letters, numbers, geometric designs, floral bands and verse, "Learn to speak truth, There is nothing needs a Lye. The fault that was but one Grows two thereby" signed and dated, on linen, 10 1/2" x 8" (27cms x 20cms), and a miniature patch sample by the same hand with letters and numbers, signed and dated 1758, 3" (7cms) square.
