Dickens (Charles). A short ALS on his headed Gad’s Hill notepaper, 1 January 1866, 1 pp, single folded sheet, to a Mr. Charles Edmonds. ‘The engagements of the time of year have caused me to overlook your letter, for which I am extremely sorry. I am not conscious of having made any mistake; but I have no proxy-paper (?) for those schools among my miscellaneous accumulations, nor do I remember to have received one.’ With his usual flamboyant signature.
