[Gregory (Lady Augusta)] A Phantom's Pilgrimage or Home Ruin, 16mo L. (W. Ridgeway) 1893. Sole Edn., 18pp orig. black printed pictorial blue wrappers. An exquisite copy, of legendary rarity. A satire on the Land War & the proposed Home Rule Bill, and although it was published anonymously, it is thought it was withdrawn from circulation because the family felt it might be politically damaging. It was written the year after her husband Sir W. Gregory had died. No copy listed by Black. (1)
Provenance: From the collection of Mrs. Catherine Kennedy, 'Nu' the grand-daughter of Lady Gregory. Her father Robert, was the subject of W.B. Yeats's poem, "An Irish Airman Forsees His Death."
