* Tipperary beat Kilkenny 1.13 to 1.8 and went onto win their 17th All Ireland Crown.

* Tipperary were triumphant on the day, 4-9 to 2-5, claiming their 17th title, with players like Tony Wall, John & Jimmy Doyle, Theo English, Donie Nealon, etc. (1)

A nice clean lot. As a collection. Good. (4)
* In the Replay, Tom Cheanty scored two goals in the match and Waterford refused through out to let the initiative slip away. They claimed their 2nd title on a score line of 3.12 to 1.10.

*Regarded as one of the biggest upsets in Mc Carthy Cup History as Wexford beat Tipperary 2-15 to 0-11. Wexford’s Nick O’Donnell won his 2nd All-Ireland as Wexford Captain. He also captained the victorious 1955 team. (1)
