Littlehales, Together with a very good View of the Parish Church of Kill in the County of Kildare, with Ground Plan of the Church; Section across the Church, Elevation of the Wet End, with Reference. The entire on one large sheet approx. 73.5cms x 52cms (29″ x 20 1/2″), fully hand coloured, on card. No date c. 1810 (according to The Gentleman’s Magazine for June 11, the Rev. Original Architectural Drawings: Sandys (Francis) Design for Competition for Royal Exchange, Dublin (now City Hall), showing two elevations, approx. 49cms x 33cms (19 1/4″ x 13″), ink and wash on paper, signed ‘Fran’s Sandys Invt. et Delin’t,’ not dated but c. 1769. In fine condition. As a drawing, w.a.f. Extremely Rare.
* This important drawing was executed by Irish Architect Francis Sandys for the Competition for design for New Royal Exchange Dublin. There were approx. 61 entries from architects in Ireland and England. Thomas Cooley won the competition, & James Gandon was runner-up. Survivals from this competition are very rare. Tipperary: Richardson, Corfield & Wharton, London Surveyors, Atlas of Part of the Kilcash Estate in the County of Tipperary, [ – Atlas of the Kilcash Estate in Lower Ormond in the County of Tipperary], the Property of the Rt. Hon. Walter Earl of Ormonde and Ossory…. Chief Butler of Ireland and Knight of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick, 2 vols. v. lg. atlas folio L. 1809. Two attractive titles, & 18 full page maps, approx. 69cms x 59cms (27 1/4″ x 23″), with corresponding pages of text listing the numerous tenants each separate holding, the size in English & Irish acres, titles, map references and other remarks. The entire executed on vellum in fine manuscript. Seven maps have been repaired (where small sections were removed), but generally not affecting text, some maps with additional folding sections, some dust stains but generally very good condition. In recent professional calf backed cloth boards, mor. labels. As atlases, w.a.f.
* An amazing Record of one of the largest estates in Ireland just after The Act of Union.
